"So he held her and he prayed
Shafts of moonlight on his face
But the baby in her womb
He was the maker of the moon
He was the Author of the faith
That could make the mountains move"
The quote above is from one of my favorite songs about Christmas: "Labor of Love." Originally recorded for the album Behold the Lamb of God, the song paints a picture of what the labor to deliver Jesus might have been like.
We love this song because it reminds me that the Baby born to us all those years ago in Bethlehem was Immanuel, God with us. What took place in the dusty streets of a little town was the most spectacular event in all of history: God, eternal and all powerful, Creator of heaven and Earth, stepped down into time and space as a helpless infant to rescue the children He loves.
It is for this reason we can say, no matter where this day finds you, today is a day we celebrate the "Good news of great joy!" From our family to yours, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
