Surprise and Awe

"This took 15 minutes?" (Stunned silence for a few second), "15 minutes?"

"I know! Amazing, right?" I exclaimed with a smile!

The President of TECH Team had swung by my desk late one afternoon a few weeks ago to check on the progress of a 3D rendering I had been working on. It was more complicated than most and I had been building the model for a couple of weeks. It just so happened the day before I had created a test run in full HD resolution for the client ministry to review and was able to show him the results.

You may recall that TECH recently upgraded the computer I use everyday and the software I use for building and rendering models (learn more about that here) The project in question is the first real opportunity for me to put the new hardware through the paces. There are stories at TECH that are told of the pain and woe that went into model rendering in years gone by - I have been a partaker of some of that pain and woe. A single image could take a couple hours and a short video would take a week or more. And sometimes it would crash repeatedly. The new hardware and software took a complex model and rendered nine still images and a two minute video in...

"15 minutes? You're sure?"

"Yes!"

"And that looks incredible. With people moving... this really is a step up in our capabilities. 15 minutes!"

I am thankful to serve at a ministry that sees value in providing the very best service we can, and that seeks opportunities to expand and improve that where possible. I am also thankful for those of you who contributed financially to purchase these upgrades. Your investment has freed up hours of my time that would be invested in the renderings so that it can be spent in other areas of service. You have also provided a way for TECH to continue to strive toward excellence in all that we do.
