Eucatastrophe

Eucatastrophe is a word coined by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as, " A sudden and favourable resolution of events in a story; a happy ending."

This is the word that kept coming to mind as I thought of our experience buying our new van. At the same time as I was wondering how we were going to survive a summer without an air conditioned vehicle, God was preparing just the right car for us. Just when we needed money to buy a car, Eric felt prompted to save. As we thought we were getting a van that would need some repairs, all the major repairs had been taken care of.

One podcaster I listen to connected this idea of eucatastrophe with grace; specifically God's grace. Undeserved favor. Grace is certainly what the entire experience with the van felt like! Praise God! He provided more than I would have believed possible!
