It is summer time again. Summer always brings the usual business with it, but it also comes with the summer time activities. One of the kids favorite activities is swimming. While they are young and dream about gracing the waters like Michael Phelps or Katie Ledecky, being safe in the water is a priority for us.
The past two summers Liam has had lessons at a local fitness club. He learned how to be comfortable in the water and some basic skills, but the classes were large and it was hard to assess how much he learned. Last year, Hannah was in a backyard class that taught her how to be comfortable in the water.
This year we were fortunate enough to have a friend from church who was willing to teach them in her backyard pool. The progress they have made this summer has been amazing! Liam is able float (on back and tummy - something we were never able to get him to do) and swim the short length of the pool! Hannah is learning the basics of swimming including floating and kicking. They are looking forward to putting these new skills to use!
