Winter Roundup

In our culture, busyness is often worn as a badge of honor. Our household tries to avoid busyness like the plague. Sometimes, though, it still catches us. 2025 opened with a bang and it seems since February the Livingston clan has been pulled in several directions at once. Unfortunately, in the shuffle, this blog was overlooked. Repeatedly. My apologies for being derelict in my responsibility to keep you in the Loop. As a result, this post will be a little longer. What should have been a series of shorter posts will be a string of snapshots on the past few months. We will address TECH and Travels.
TECH
Facility Solutions has been diligently and faithful led by Les Brown for many years. A couple years ago he began planting the seeds that one day I (Eric) would take over. That officially happened the first of February. While my title has changed, most of my day-to-day responsibilities have stayed the same. We are looking forward to how God will use this new role to His glory.
TECH held its annual Board meeting in Longview on February 20 and 21. It was a good time for the leadership to gather and seek God's hand in direction of TECH over the next year.
New and repeat ministries continue to contact TECH on a regular basis seeking assistance with their architectural needs. We are thankful that God continues to provide meaningful ways to serve the Body and help advance the Gospel through architecture. 2025 looks to be a full year with several projects running concurrently. We look forward to how God will use each of these ministries to HIs glory
In February Eric completed a master plan for a camp in the mountains of Washington. Given the nature of the camp, there is not a lot of room for new buildings so the vast majority of the master plan consisted of a report detailing repair and site improvements to the existing camp. This is the first time in a few years where TECH produced a master plan that was mostly written rather than graphic.
Eric also completed a master plan for a K-12 school in the Fort Worth area. The school currently has one permanent building (a retrofitted house) and several portables. Eric was glad for the opportunity to assist the school in thinking through how to best improve upon and expand the ministry that God has given them so that they can reach the kids of the area with Christ centered education. They school has already been in contact with TECH about pursuing design for the first phase of the project.
Travels
Katie and the kids skipped town over Spring Break and made the trek to Wisconsin to spend time with family up there. It was also a means to get away and relax far from work and other obligations. It was the first time they had flown in a few years but everyone did great with the adventure.
On the way back from Wisconsin, Katie and the kids stopped off at the house of her childhood friend who lives near Denton. They spent a couple days just hanging out and catching up
Towards the end of the week of Wisconsin, Eric left Texas and flew to Nashville for a 3-day architecture conference. While the theme of the conference is hard to summarize the heart behind the ministry that hosts the conference is to gather like-minded Christian architects for a time of refreshing and reflecting on what it means to be a creator in God's created world. It was a good couple of days and Eric feels he made some meaningful connections.
The following weekend, Eric drove to the Houston area to begin the master planning process for a church that is out of room but continuing to grow. We are looking forward to seeing how the plan develops and how God will use the planning process to draw the people of the church closer to him.
There is so much more that we could share about these last couple of months. We are continually amazed at how God provides, directs, encourages, and sustains both us personally and the ministry of TECH. We are excited to be part of a ministry that is growing, vibrant, and actively participating in the ministry of providing tools and resources to other ministries so that they can continue the Gospel work to which they have been called. Thank you for being part of this adventure with us. We are thankful that you are with us during the calm seasons, the hectic days, the long nights, and the days that speed by too fast.
Closer to Home
Spring sports have begun. For many years that meant Saturday soccer through a local Upwards league. As the kids have grown, they have either expressed interest in other activities or aged out of the program (upwards is for K-6th). This year Hannah has stayed in soccer, Liam has taken up golf, and Ranen is in her second year of softball. We are glad to see them each finding activities that interest them, making new friends and learning new skills.
Blessings,
Eric and Katie
How to Pray
- Pray for additional staff, specifically architects and engineers for Facility Solutions.
- Praise for the successful completion of a couple of master plans and the continuation of construction documents that were on hold
- Praise that the school where Katie serves has offered her a new contract for the 2025/26 school year. Katie has enjoyed her and has often said, "It's hard, but a good hard." We are proud of her and look forward to what the next year will bring.
- Pray for summer travels
