Walk the Road Together

When I was younger, there was a joke that I thought was amusing. Today, it would probably be considered a Dad Joke. It went something like this: "Which car brand did the Apostles use? A Honda... because Acts mentions they were all in one Accord!" I'll wait for the eye rolls.
How does a corny joke relate to Missions? It simply reminds me that we are meant to live in unity and harmony with one another. I am cautiously optimistic about something upcoming that involves unity and collaboration among fellow believers who are also architects.

In recent years, I have tried to establish connections with other ministries that use architecture as a tool for ministry. Unfortunately, these efforts have not been very successful. I managed to connect with a few ministries, but there was no clear direction on what the association should achieve. It has been my prayer and desire to find these connections for mutual encouragement and to discover ways for our respective ministries to support each other.
In May, things started to potentially shift. TECH was approached by a ministry from Greece, which had envisioned for years the idea of connecting Christian architects engaged in ministry. This individual reached out to five or six other ministries with the aim of gathering us all together to explore ways we can encourage and support each other. Since the initial contact, we have met twice and maintained communication through email between meetings.

As this gathering is still in its early stages, I am cautiously optimistic about what it might become, regardless of the path it takes. As a loose association, we hope to be laying the foundation for an independent ministry that could expand and evolve into a larger movement within the profession. I am reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5:10-11, which states, "Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." I invite you to join us in prayer as we look forward to how God might use architecture and ministry to reach beyond what I could have ever imagined.
Closer to Home
The summer was filled with activities, VBS, day camps, travel, and getting ready for the start of school. This year, we didn't document our adventures across the USA in a separate blog, but we traveled through 10 states over 26 days, covering more than 3,600 miles. We reconnected with several existing supporters, made a few new connections, and visited two TECH project sites. Most of us enjoyed a wide variety of foods, but Liam was consistent, eating 30 hamburgers! This year, we embarked on our trip earlier, leaving right after school ended to participate in some family activities up north.
Upon returning to Texas, the girls participated in VBS, Ranen attended a music camp for a week to learn the ukulele, Hannah went to cheer camp, and Liam had a school retreat. We enjoyed our time both traveling and at home, but we are all eager for the routine and schedule that the school year will bring!
Blessings,
Eric and Katie
