Bedtime Stories

It happens from time to time that our kids decide to fight against sleep at night. Especially little Ranen. She turns and sings and plays and cries and talks and anything else she can do to not fall asleep. Some nights the battle is short-lived and others it is epic. Twice this last week, she fell asleep before lunch as a result!

*Deep Breath*

And I am trying to remember these moments. Moments of frustration for sure, but also hearing the sweet things that pour from her stream of consciousness. She enjoys singing Happy Birthday to her animals and anyone she can think of. Ranen liked to pull stuffed animals under the blanket to cuddle with her (but she will do it herself!). She wants one more kiss and to read and to listen to us sing an endless Tom Chapin song, "This Pretty Planet." And finally, the beautiful sound of her deep breaths as she slips into dreams.
