Clothes, Flat Stanley, and the End of Diapers

I try to note the milestones we cross. Although we have been officially out of our diaper changing era for a few years, we still had the changing table. It served as a dresser for the girls...until recently.

Ranen (and her Spring Break companion, Flat Stanley) helped Eric take apart the old and nearly useless dresser. She joyfully worked the screwdriver to take apart a piece of furniture that has been used daily for more than 13 years in our house. I had taken on the project of switching Ranen's clothes out during Spring Break as well since most of her wardrobe was too small.

I can't say I'm sorry to see the dresser go but it did make me remember all the nights I spent fumbling with pjs and trying to put the kids back to sleep even when I was so tired I could barely put a coherent thought together. And all the times I spent standing at that changing table during the days talking to my kids. I don't miss those moments- I cherish them.

As we say goodbye the changing table, we also bid farewell to our last piece of baby furniture. My kids are growing so fast it is hard to keep up with them! And as they search for their individuality, I can still see the babies mesmerized with a fascinating world. It isn't that I miss the baby phase- but I cherish those memories.

By the way- I discovered Thursday that Liam's shoes are (yet again) too small and Hannah's clothes need changing out as well...but that is a different day and a different memory to cherish.
