We travelled from Gallup to near Mancos, CO. The family stopped off at Mesa Verde to explore. I’ll be honest that I didn’t have high expectations for this stop. I was hoping Mesa Verde would provide somewhere along the lines of 1.5-2 hours of entertainment. We were there 4 hours and all three kids were sad to go! The kids thought it was cool and they all enjoyed filling out the park book to become Junior Rangers.
Then we trekked up into the mountains to stop at a camp Eric is working with to draw up a master plan. Eric met with the camp director and met several of the staff. He came away with a much better idea of what they need and how he can work with their site. We also got to sleep at the camp that night. I saw a HUGE groundhog and the temperature when we woke up was in the low 50s at the end of June. That was a real treat for this Texas native!
